Maul Mania is Running Wild! Darth Maul Returns!

Episode I in 3D opened today and really it's all about the Maul. The popular Sith Lord cut down
in his prime has featured prominently in the re-release posters and promos, and he managed to
sneak his way onto the back cover of the Darth Plagueis Novel too, before he makes his full (?) return later this spring on the Clone Wars TV series. So expect the Maul Mania to continue - it is the biggest Star Wars come back since Boba Fett! Who knows where Darth Maul might show up next.

New Amazing Spider-Man (3D) Trailer...Is Pretty Amazing

I was lucky enough to see this trailer and the bonus footage at the Untold Story Sneak Peek Event in New York yesterday. Yep, the one with the live appearance by Andrew Garfeild. Garfield was humble and earnest in discussing the great responsibility to fans of being the new Spidey, and the bonus footage (a lot of which expanded on scenes in the trailer) looked great even if some of it was partially unfinished. Most importantly, at least for me, it featured much more humor and it was very satisfying to finally see some classic taunting banter from Spidey. It was crowd pleasing event and I overheard a lot of real excitement from the fans attending. There's a good description of the event @ MTV which hosted the NYC portion. Geek Tyrant has a round-up of several footage descriptions here, and below are a few cool trailer screen caps via SuperHeroHype which has a big gallery.

Update - Movie Viral found the link markofthespider-man.com hidden somewhere in the trailer's webbing graphics - it leads to a viral site witch mostly features 6 small screens of static...for now.

"Bark Side" Dogs Sing Imperial March, Yoda's Phone Help & Darth Maul Gets Brisk - This Week in Star Wars Ads

With the huge viral and critical success of the Vader Kid Superbowl Ad last year VW sticks with the Star Wars theme - literally - offering a teaser of "singing" dogs barking out the Imperial March.

Meanwhile Yoda, needing a break from of Ramen Noodle dinners, visits a Sushi Bar and offers his
Jedi phone skilz to a British couple for Vodafone.

And finally Big Head Yoda vs Darth Maul for Brisk. This has actually been out week or so,
but expect to see it more as The Phantom Menace 3D re-release approaches on Feb 10th.

It's All About Maul - Star Wars Episode I: Darth Maul in 3D!

New Phantom Menace Poster for the 3D re-release. Anakin who?

And here's the EW Clone Wars preview clip followed by a good screen capture of animated Maul.

Off course the extra long horns lead to speculation that we may see a Visionaries styled 1/2 Cyborg Maul.

LA's X-Men: First Class DVD Release Event Features an Almost Holographic 3D Projection on the Roosevelt Hotel

It's 3D Projection Mapping. Pearl Media did the campaign and explains the process...
'The 3D projection turns the side of a building into a movie screen. The technology appears to make solid structures change shape and reveal images that are not really there, such as water flowing from windows or cars emerging from within the walls. It has been around for a couple of years, but is now catching on in promotions.
Pearl Media takes laser measurements of a building to get a realistic view before creating a 3D image of the façade. Animation becomes an overlay. Software renders both pieces together. When complete, a “high-powered projector” projects the image on the building, explains Joshua Cohen, Pearl Media’s president."
