The Star Wars - Dark Horse Comic Trailer, Covers, and Excerpt

Here's a trailer for "The Star Wars" - the neat concept comic launching September 4th from Dark Horse Comics featuring an alternate Star Wars that could have been based on George Lucas's first draft script. Written by J.W. Rinzler with art by Mike Mayhew that looks just fantastic - he really captures the feel of the early concept art Star Wars fans know so well - familiar and new at the same time.
Excerpt and cover art follow below.

Issue #1 - seven page preview via USA Today

To be continued...

Covers art for Issues #1 and #2 by Nick Runge

Issue # 1 variant cover by Jan Duursema

And Issue #1 Midtown Comics variant over by John Cassaday

Plus some nice preview panel crops via this site.

If Look Books Could Kill - Phillip Lim's KILL THE NIGHT

A Fashion Comic for NYC Fall Fashion Week 2012

This is quintessential Fashion and Action - I love it when Fashion and Comics Team-Up - and this
showcases a particularly dynamic trio. Designer Phillip Lim enlisted writer/artist duo John Ostrander
and Jan Duursema (probably my favorite team from the Dark Horse Star Wars Comics) to a create a
Neo-Noir Comic Look Book featuring his Fall 2012 Collection which was inspired by edgy modern
classic titles like V for Vendetta and Sin City. You can sign up for a free copy @ 3.1phiiliplim.com.
The comic will also be the Designer's freebee at tonight's Fashion's Night Out event kicking off
NYC Fashion Week. More details on the project @ Style.com. Above you can enjoy some
preview pages - while some blown up panels and B&W art a featured below via Lim's Pinterest.

Just fantastic! Reminds me so much of  Eclipse Comics' Fashion In Action - the inspiration for this blog!

Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi - Dark Horse Comic Preview

Alternate covers and 3 page preview (via Newsarama) of the new Dark Horse Star Wars Expanded Universe Comic debuting in February. The five issue series from one of my favorite writer/artist teams John Ostrander & Jan Duursema takes the story a long time ago all the way back to the creation of the Jedi Order on the planet Tython. And while not being promoted as a direct tie-in, players of the new MMO game SW: The Old Republic should find this very interesting background material.
