Industrial Light & Magic shared this pretty epic VFX Reel to celebrate The Avengers Oscar Nomination for Best Visual Effects. It's a great look at the variety and scope of effects they did on the film but the real highlights are the traditionally stop motion puppet animated Hulk into and the after-credits scene finale.
I remember going to a Sci-Fi Con in NYC specifically to see this back in 82!
As an Industrial Design Student, Syd Mead fan, and well...Harrison Ford fangirl - this was a huge film for me. This is still a really great featurette, totally worth checking out - with a lot of insight
into the design aesthetics relation to the film's story.
Rick Baker is the true master of old school make-up effects and alien creature design, and giving the
aliens from the past the Retro Pulp Atomic Bug-Eyed Monster looks is really cool and clever idea.
I suspect if you don't expect much more beyond the appeal of series stars Smith & Jones, Josh Brolin's Tommy Lee impression, and weird alien eye-candy, Men In Black 3 could be goofy fun.
The Making of The Avengers - Behind The Scenes Footage & Photos
TheIrishAvengerCBM has kindly edited all the official B-Roll footage clips into one nice convenient single reel. Originally made available as promo clips before the film's release - but I think it's more interesting (and less spoilery) to watch them after. They feature tons of cool filmmaking stuff like fight choreography, stunt & green screen work, actor blocking, fussing with costumes & make-up as well as the cast and crew in great candid casual moments. I've also "assembled" gallery of behind the scenes photos bellow.
Stunning VFX reel for "Hugo". Scorsese's magical family film deftly pays homage to the earliest days of cinema - there's great article pointing out all the references at FX Guide. Nominated for 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Director, and of course Visual Effects.
