I generally don't care for remakes of my faves from the 80's because, well...they strip all the 80's-ness out of them. But, I don't know...maybe it's just because the trailer and ads are pretty well done and feature lots of fun melodramatic acting and explosions - a combination I am overly fond of - or perhaps it's because I really like Chris Hemsworth and Jeffrey Dean Morgan...but I'm having trouble hating this.
But I'm still not sure the idea will work as well without the Cold War paranoia I grew up with.
