"Wide Awake" Katy Perry's Personal Fairytale Music Video

A really great looking video with tons of classic Fairy Tale Princess and Wonderland imagery
updated with a dash of darkness and Katy's own personal twists - plus I love her purple hair.

As a bonus here's Katy as both the Evil Queen and Snow White re-imagined in the
Art Deco Jazz Age from the fairytale ad campaign she shot for GHD.

Archery is The New Vampire - "Arrow" TV Series First Clip

I'm calling it now - Archery is the New Vampire - and I'm cool with that.

The new fall CW series is based on DC Comic's Green Arrow. As revealed in the description,
even while changing up the parental/family dynamics, as with his Smallville appearance the
new series doesn't shy away from Oliver Queen's essential similarities to Batman/Bruce Wayne.
But in a surprise twist - the show also seems to be working in a story element from Spider-Man!
After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

An while the original comic book Green Arrow's look was inspired by Errol Flynn's
Robin Hood, the CW looks like they may have been thinking more about the other Archer
(the Avenging one in purple & black) when they cast Stephen Amell.

Revolution TV Series Trailer - The Archery in Action Trend Continues

Preview of the new post-apocalyptic TV series Revolution from Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and
J.J. Abrams (Alias, Fringe, Lost, etc) for the Fall 2012 season. Set in a near future after a total failure
of the electronic grid - it looks to have elements reminiscent of the short lived cult fave Jericho as
well as the The Hunger Games. Including the increasingly popular use of the bow & arrow.

Mutant Children (and Lens Flare) Invade Music Videos!

I love it when trends come together. X-Men inspired super powered kids combine with the desaturated, sun glared and lens flared film style of the 70's/early 80's which received big screen homage in Super 8.

Belated Look @ Fantastic NYC Holiday Windows - Bergdorf, Macy's, Saks & Barney's

While Macy's Animated Steampunk Wonderland Windows are fabulous have been featured prominently on the web my personal favorites are the Bergdorf Goodman windows. They do also show a nod to the Steampunk or Neo-Victorian aesthetic. Featuring Glamorous Women and Suited Beasts posing for vintage portraits as well as some windows overstuffed with fascinating specimens & curiosities.

The full curio windows also remind of Graeme Base's illustrations in Animalia.

Here's a nice look at the fanciful Macy's windows. See some more great detail photos here.

Saks Fifth Avenue also snuck some Steam-inspired gears into their windows.

And Lady Gaga's Workshop @ Barney's featured some very cool Deco Futuristic displays.

Most images via Refinery 29 which features a review of even more NYC windows here.

Courtney Love in Wonderland - Vanity Fair Magazine

November 2011 Vanity Fair Fashion Editorial features a more refined Love against an abandoned
Luxe setting. Nice subtle take on the current Dark Fairytale theme. Great photos - she's like a edgy
and slightly unhinged Martha Stewart. More photos @ 80's Purple
