Stunning VFX reel for "Hugo". Scorsese's magical family film deftly pays homage to the earliest days of cinema - there's great article pointing out all the references at FX Guide. Nominated for 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Director, and of course Visual Effects.
Martin Scorsese directs his first family oriented/kids film as well as his first 3D feature - based on
Brian Selznick's award winning novel The Invenion of Hugo Cabret. Opens Nov. 23rd.
The cast is top notch, the visuals look lovely and full of Steampunky flourishes while still seeming grounded in reality. I'm not sure where this falls in Scorsese's "one for them one for yourself" formula - but frankly even Scorsese's imperfect films are full of genius and always worth watching.
